Final Thoughts

Thank You!

You've done it! Together we walked though the basics of reading and understanding medieval calendars! Medieval Calendars are so important because they give us key insight into the cultures that they come from. Everything from the red rubrications, the necessity for the calendars to be reusable, the necessity to be to tell when the new moon will be, and the mistakes made by the scribes themselves, each give us small little tastes of the culture of the middle ages.

I appreciate you taking this journey with me, and I hope with what you have learned, you remember to never take anything, not even a calendar for granted.

Also, please make sure to take a moment and sign my Guestbook! I'm curious to see who has visited!

Why Lour La Lune?

Lour la Lune is old french for hour of the moon, and can be seen in the introductions of some other medieval calendars, including ones that sparked the beginnings of this project.
